Terms of use
Draft — this page describes how the app works today and is awaiting legal review before public launch.
Vinyl Bookcase is an early-access app for cataloguing your own records and sharing them with friends. By using it you agree to these terms. See the Privacy page for how your data is handled.
Who can use it
You must be at least 13 (or the minimum age for online services where you live). You sign in with a Google account (or with Apple, where that option is offered); one person, one account. In some countries the minimum age to use online services without a parent's consent is higher than 13, and then that higher age applies.
Your account
Keep your sign-in secure and don't share your account. You can stop using Vinyl Bookcase and delete your account at any time from Settings.
Your content
Your notes, reviews, lists and messages stay yours. You give us permission to store them and to show them to the people your privacy settings allow — nothing more. Only post things you're allowed to share, and remember that anything you make visible to friends or everyone can be seen, and could be copied, by those people.
Album information, artwork and copyright
Album details come from Discogs, new-release information from MusicBrainz, and some cover images from Discogs and the Cover Art Archive. Album artwork and metadata belong to their respective rights holders and to those services; Vinyl Bookcase displays them to help you catalogue your collection and doesn't claim ownership. Your profile photo must be an image you have the right to use. If you believe something on Vinyl Bookcase infringes your rights, tell us using the contact details below, with enough detail to identify it, and we'll review it and remove it where appropriate.
Be decent
- No harassment, hate, threats, or sexual content involving anyone without consent (and never involving minors).
- No spam, scams, or pretending to be someone else.
- Don't try to access other people's accounts or private data, or disrupt the service (including automated scraping).
Reporting and blocking
You can report or block anyone from their profile, and report a message, list or review. Blocking works immediately and ends any friendship between you. Reports are read by the people who run Vinyl Bookcase. We may remove content, limit features or suspend accounts that break these rules, and we may do this without notice where it's needed to protect people. We can't promise to review every report instantly while the service is small.
Early access
Vinyl Bookcase is still being built. Features may change or be removed, and the service may sometimes be unavailable. The service is provided as it is. Our database provider keeps backups, but we don't guarantee that data can always be recovered, so please keep your own copy of anything important — you can download your data at any time.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the app grows. The "last updated" date above will change, and if you keep using Vinyl Bookcase after a change you accept the new terms. If you don't agree, you can delete your account at any time.
